Based on extensive positive preclinical results, Celladon Corporation and its academic collaborators initiated a Phase 1/2 clinical trial of dose escalation of AAV1.SERCA2a administered directly to heart cells with minimally invasive cardiac catheterization. Our Phase1/2 clinical study represents the first-in-human trial of gene therapy in heart failure using AAV. We are testing the hypotheses that restoring SERCA2a enzyme production will improve ventricular function in patients with advanced heart failure.
